Barnbrook’s cutting-edge intelligent technology delivers next-generation capabilities for monitoring, management and intervention in systems in real time from remote locations whatever the application, asset or sector – with seamless integration into existing networks and the power to make major gains in efficiency, service levels and consistency, safety and profitability.
Fire & Security
The supply and maintenance of fire suppression systems within facilities and property management has become critical in so many spheres of modern life.
It may be to save lives, protect sensitive data and ensure business continuity in computer server, data and distribution centres, ensure regulatory compliance or preserve peace of mind…it is vital that systems work, should the worst scenario occur.
Barnbrook’s market-leading Fire Suppression Actuators (FSA) are absolutely integral to ensure water, foam and other suppressants are triggered quickly and efficiently.
The actuators have been consistently reliable and successful for almost three decades, with a substantial global reach of over 700,000 units shipped. An exciting innovation – SmartGauge© (pictured) – has also delivered new capabilities which mean actuators remain in optimum condition, are able to deliver peak performance and can be maintained, overhauled or repaired in a timely way to save time, money and, ultimately, lives or data.
SmartGauge© can be fitted to new actuators or retrofitted to existing actuators – either for individual units or as part of a system.
SmartGauge© can be configured to show temperature, pressure levels, humidity, and other variables. It also has touch screen capabilities and features Barnbrook Systems’ unique BlueCube© remote sensing technology to allow individual units or larger systems to be monitored remotely via phone, tablet, laptop or desktop.
Alerts can be sent to various platforms, including for OEM, mission-critical and emergency scenarios.
With its predictive maintenance benefits, SmartGauge© means that fire suppression units and systems can be scheduled for maintenance in a cost-effective, efficient and compliant way.

Early detection and repair of leaks also limit the amount the potentially noxious gases escaping into the environment.
The SmartGauge© solution is wireless and Bluetooth enabled with long-life rechargeable batteries or for complete continuous operational security assurance, it can be wired into existing power supplies with battery back-up.
Barnbrook’s next generation SmartGauge© brings intelligence and innovation into fire safety and suppression in a cost-effective and revolutionary way while offering powerful environmental and business benefits.
Renewables
Barnbrook is working in close partnership with a pioneer in green hydrogen to make this power source a practical and cost-effective reality for aviation.
It is launching its BlueDot solution at this year’s Farnborough International Airshow to support the safe, secure and efficient transportation and use of green hydrogen.
BlueDot leverages the company’s market-leading capabilities in remote sensing systems and the internet of things (IoT), developed from its award-winning BlueCube© technology.
BlueDot is built around a monitoring and tracking device which is fixed to individual cannisters, or cells, in a green hydrogen battery.
It includes connectors and a powerful antenna which enables it to monitor pressure – meticulously tracking for leaks – as well as safety-critical environmental factors such as temperature, humidity and location.
Data is transmitted in real time to any BlueCube© host then into the Cloud enabling reporting to mobile phone, laptop, desktop or even a smartwatch.
The system can also be configured to send immediate alerts when pressure, temperature or other variables hit certain levels – supporting risk management, emergency response protocols and business continuity.
It means that batteries can be tracked when being refilled at a hydrogen production plant, during transportation and deployment at airfields and airports as well as potentially onboard aircraft during flight.
Clearly, any system incorporating hydrogen needs to meet stringent safety standards for environments with a risk of potentially explosive substances.
BlueDot is designed and manufactured for ATEX 1 compliance. The ATEX standards are based on European Union safety directives, put into effect in Great Britian through the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR) and BIS Equipment and Protective Systems Intended for Use in Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 1996 (SI 1996/192).
Barnbrook is investing a high five-figure sum into ATEX 1 approval to ensure its BlueDot is certified for operation within the ignitable envelope for green hydrogen use.
Barnbrook refuelling system are also compatible for SAF, further supporting this sustainable solution’s – and the company’s – contribution to the industry’s 2050 net zero aspiration.
This target was set by the UN’s International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) two years ago in 2022. The clock is ticking, 2050 is not far away.
